Comparisons with Tiger Woods don’t come cheap, so there must be something very special about anyone who has earned that parity.
Scottie Scheffler was speaking to the press on Tuesday and he offered huge words of praise for Jon Rahm, comparing one particular part of the 30-year-old’s game to Woods in his pomp.
Scheffler and Rahm dominated their respective tours last season, with the American and the Spaniard topping the PGA Tour and LIV Golf standings.
Woods knows all about that doesn’t he!
The 15-time major champion was completely dominant during his time in the game. In his prime, every single aspect of his game was fine-tuned to near perfection.

And Scheffler’s form over the past two years has drawn similarities with the way in which Woods dismantled fields in his heyday.
Interestingly, back in 2024, Woods suggested that if Scheffler improves his putting he could be unbeatable.
However, there is one part of Rahm’s game that even Scheffler would like to have amongst his armoury.
Scottie Scheffler says Jon Rahm does something similar to Tiger Woods
The two-time Masters champion heads into The PGA Championship this week as the favourite to win the tournament.
Rahm is expected to put in a good showing at Quail Hollow as well, and move one step closer to completing the Grand Slam in the process.
Unfortunately, his move over to LIV at the end of 2023 seems to have adversely affected his chances of competing in major championships.
However, maybe he will prove that statement to be incorrect this week.
Scheffler addressed the media in Charlotte, North Carolina on Tuesday, and offered high words of praise for the LIV Golf star.

He said, “You look at a guy like Jon Rahm, like I love the way he plays with passion over every shot. It’s very rare for him to lose focus, and you kind of see that in his face when he plays. He plays so competitively. Tiger was kind of the same way. Tiger was obviously the best at it, but every shot he hit was the most important shot that he’s ever hit.“
I feel like Scheffler is doing himself somewhat of a disservice here. There cannot be a golfer on the planet who is more focused than him during tournament play!
Tiger Woods and Scottie Scheffler records compared
Whatever anyone says, Scheffler is undoubtedly the closest thing we’ve seen to Woods.
Not because of his explosiveness off the tee, or his charisma, but more so due to his staggering consistency.
As good as Woods’ stats are below, Scheffler is actually on track to match him.
| PGA Tour results | Tiger Woods | Scottie Scheffler |
| Events played | 378 | 139 |
| Wins | 82 | 14 |
| Top-5s | 163 | 48 |
| Top-10s | 199 | 65 |
| Missed cuts | 39 | 19 |
| Major wins | 15 | 2 |
| Career money | $120,999,166 | $78,504,784 |
Scheffler is running Woods pretty close there, relatively speaking.
And it will be interesting to see what those numbers look like in five or six years’ time.
