Scottie Scheffler names his favourite ever golf course on the PGA Tour, ‘It’s one of the best tests’

Picking a favourite golf course is always a subjective topic but for world number one Scottie Scheffler, there is a clear winner in his mind for the top place to play golf.

Scheffler has won at more than his fair share of golf courses over his career so far and is on course to win three in a row if he succeeds at Colonial at this week’s Charles Schwab Challenge.

Now a holder of three majors and 15 PGA Tour wins overall, Scheffler is more than well placed to give his thoughts on what is the best around.

But while Scheffler has played some of the best courses in the world, when it came to his very favourite, his answer was hardly surprising.

For a lot of golfers, Augusta National and St Andrews are the best around.

However, Vijay Singh picked Pebble Beach, while Jack Nicklaus is also a known fan of Pebble and admitted it would be the one course he’d play again before he died if he had the chance.

Still, while some of the greats of the game have a differing opinion, for Scottie Scheffler, it’s all about Augusta National and The Masters.

Speaking ahead of tee off at Colonial this week, Scheffler was asked about his favourite place to play golf and in typical fashion, he couldn’t steer clear of Augusta.

“I hate to go with the same answer as the last question, but I think Augusta National,” Scheffler said.

“Growing up here in the States, I think that golf tournament was always just different for us. Having it hosted on the same golf course each year in such a special place, I think any time you’re able to step foot on that golf course and play it, I think it’s one of the best tests of golf that we see all year.

“I really always look forward to that event. We have great memories there, and it’s a really special place.”

Scottie Scheffler’s record at Augusta National

Some players just suit a certain golf course and it very much seems like Scottie Scheffler and Augusta are a match made in heaven.

In six appearances at the famous course, Scheffler has landed two wins, and never finished outside the top 20.

He finished fourth this year despite not playing very well, while in his debut in 2020, he finished T19.

Scheffler could well be on course to join the likes of Tiger Woods or Nick Faldo with more than two green jackets if he carries on how he is.

Certainly, come 2026, he’ll once again be among the favourites to win.
