When you look at the last few years of the PGA Tour, Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy are very much among the consistently best players in the game.

McIlroy has been a constant success story since he broke into the game more than 15 years ago now, while Scottie Scheffler’s 2024 was simply remarkable.

Currently, Scheffler is the world number one, with McIlroy not too far behind in third on the OWGR.

However, when it comes to being in contention to win and simply winning, Scheffler is very much the man in the last few years.

In fact, so much so, that he’s now more than doubled a stat of Rory McIlroy after temporarily leading the Genesis Invitational.

Golf is very much a game packed with different stats and if you delve deep enough, you can often pull out anything you want.

However, one man who is very much known for having his hand on all the big stats is The Athletic’s Justin Ray.

And taking to X to share another fascinating Scottie Scheffler stat, Ray has now shared how Scheffler is so far clear of everyone else – including McIlroy – when it comes to leading golf tournaments.

Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler’s record since 2022

Since winning the WM Phoenix Open right at the start of 2022, Scottie Scheffler has gone on to win another 12 times on the PGA Tour, giving him 13 wins in just over two years.

Within that, Scheffler has also won an Olympic Gold, while he also helped Team USA to a Presidents Cup win in 2024.

As for McIlroy, since winning the RBC Canadian Open in 2022, he’s added another six PGA Tour wins to his name to take him to 27 PGA Tour wins overall.

Like Scheffler, there’s been other successes for McIlroy, including a Ryder Cup win in Rome and a good charge at the Olympics to finish just outside the medals.

As it stands, although Xander Schauffele is second in the OWGR, McIlroy and Scheffler remain the main men in golf and long may it continue.
