Scottie Scheffler is leading the way at The Memorial this week but admitted he’s still finding things pretty tough on the actual golf course.

Scheffler has a four shot lead over Adam Hadwin in second going into the fourth and final round today.

Further back in the field are the likes of Collin Morikawa and Xander Schauffele, while Rory McIlroy is a massive eight shots away from Scheffler.

However, that doesn’t mean it’s been plain sailing for the world number one.

Scottie Scheffler explains why Muirfield Village is so difficult this week

Speaking in his interview after his third round yesterday, Scheffler commented on how tough the course was.

“Really challenging. With the wind being up and then how firm the greens get, they’re definitely getting faster as well which only makes it more challenging. I think they’re definitely going to get tougher as the round goes on tomorrow as well,” Scheffler said.

“I think you’ve still got to play the course the right way. It’s one of those courses where on some holes you just have to step up and play a great shot.

“There’s a lot of spots out there where if you play too conservative you can get into some pretty tough spots really quickly.”

Scheffler is going to win again and it shows his class

The scoring in round three wasn’t high but Scottie Scheffler still managed to battle on and produce an under par round.

That shows the class of the man and it once again demonstrated just why he’s the top man in golf right now.

Scheffler has the ability to produce good rounds of golf even when the conditions are tough and while some golfers falter, he seems to stay firmly in contention.

It’s going to take some effort from someone to catch Scheffler today. It also needs Scheffler to have a nightmare and drop some shots as well, which simply never seems to happen.

Another big tournament win, then, looks to be on the cards.
