Scottie Scheffler has roared back to form at The Travelers this week and is firmly in contention to win yet another PGA signature event.

After a disastrous time at the US Open last week, Scheffler has bounced back in true world number one style.

Scheffler carded a fine six under third round to go with one shot of the leader, Tom Kim, and put himself in contention to win a sixth event of the season.

As we know, Scheffler’s ability to keep calm in the big moments has served him well. That trait has helped him win The Masters, The Arnold Palmer and The Players this year, among others.

However, like any golfer in the world, Scheffler also gets frustrated at times.

And the world number one has admitted that during yesterday’s round, he thought he’d blown his chances all on one hole.

Scottie Scheffler shares where he thought he’d lost the tournament during round three of The Travelers

Speaking in his flash interview after finishing round three just a shot behind Tom Kim, Scheffler admitted he’d been annoyed with himself after one shot on the back nine.

“It’s good to be in the heat of it. I was pretty frustrated after the bogey on 14. Kind of felt I was putting myself out of the tournament but thankfully I bounced back and kept myself in with a chance,” Scheffler said.

Adding further comment on what it might take to build a lead and win, Scheffler admitted the weather could play a huge role.

“It really depends on the weather. I saw that the winds were going to be up a little bit and it depends if we get more rain overnight.

“But yeah, there’ll be a few different factors going into it but I’ll wake up tomorrow, see how the course is playing and just go from there.”

Scheffler will go on and win

The leaderboard is tight and there’s a number of players in contention.

However, Scottie Scheffler is a machine when it comes to these sorts of moments and it would be no surprise to see him get over the line this weekend.

The big players know how to handle the big pressure moments and while Tom Kim is a fine player at the top of the leaderboard, if Scheffler gets level or overhauls him, the mental side of the game will come into play.

Scheffler, then, could well be about to add yet another big tournament win to his resume.
