Scottie Scheffler began his golfing career in Dallas, Texas, after his family moved to the Lone Star State from New Jersey when he was just six years old.

Scheffler has since gone on to be one of the best players of his generation, if not the best, and is currently the dominant force on the PGA Tour.

One of the most impressive things about the 29-year-old is that he has not lost touch with his roots.

A great example of that is the fact that Scheffler has resisted overtures from LIV Golf to remain with the PGA Tour.

Sure, the American does extremely well for himself financially, but he could easily set himself up for another 20 lifetimes if he were to switch allegiances.

LIV Golf star Jon Rahm earned more money than Scheffler did in 2025 without winning a single tournament, and that says it all really.

The Dallas native is extremely well grounded, and giving back to his local community is something that clearly fulfils him just as much as winning golf tournaments does.

Scottie Scheffler creates a brand new youth golf tour with a twist

Scheffler and his wife Meredith are creating a new golf tour for golfers aged 6-12 years old in North Texas.

And the brilliant twist about the tour is that it will be completely free of charge for those who participate.

The new tour will be part of the Ewing Automotive NTPGA Junior Tour and will be named ‘The Randy Smith Tour’.

It will be focused more on fun rather than results.

The logo for the planned new junior golf tour features a recreated picture of Scheffler as a young child standing alongside his coach, Smith, on the practice putting green.

Kudos to Scheffler and his wife for creating something that will make junior golf competitions so accessible for children all across North Texas.

Randy Smith privately admitted Scottie Scheffler’s only weakness

Renowned golf coach Gary Koch was speaking on Claude Harmon’s Son of a Butch Podcast back in June.

And Koch revealed something that Scheffler’s coach told him about the world number one’s only real weakness.

He said: “It’ll be interesting to see because he does have a tendency, which every player, as well as I do, every player has tendencies. He has a left miss, and you see it when he’s a little off. The ball wants to start left and then kind of hang left or maybe even go a little farther left.

“And when you’re trying to play a cut shot most of the time, a lot of times that’s not a good thing. And talking to Randy Smith about it, he said a lot of times it’s in his setup. You know, he just gets set up a little cockeyed and, you know, the ball starts left of where he wants and the face isn’t open enough to get the ball to come back to the right.

Scheffler’s weakness in 2025 was unquestionably that over the top, pulled tee shot with his driver.

However, the scary thing for his rivals is that he still manages to win golf tournaments in spite of that weakness.

He proved that at the PGA Championship back in May at Quail Hollow.

If Scheffler manages to address that specific problem, if we can call it that, it could be game over for his competitors.
