LIV Golf burst onto the scene back in 2022 and poached many of the PGA Tour’s better players, although Scottie Scheffler remains untouchable for the Saudi-backed league, for the time being at least.
Scheffler stayed put and remained with the PGA Tour and has dominated professional golf since the start of the 2024 season with 13 wins and three major championships to his name in the past 18 months.
The 29-year-old is the undisputed best golfer in the world right now, and it’s a crying shame that we don’t get to see him compete with LIV Golf stars Jon Rahm and Bryson DeChambeau outside of the four majors.
DeChambeau was one of the first players to join LIV in June 2022, while Rahm took the plunge and jumped ship from the PGA Tour towards the end of 2023.
Rahm actually earned more money on LIV than Scheffler did on the PGA Tour in 2025, and the Spaniard didn’t win a single event!

Scheffler has actually been highly critical of LIV Golf in the past, but would his opinion change if he was offered half a billion dollars?
How Scottie Scheffler would respond if LIV Golf offered him $500m to leave the PGA Tour
Scheffler won six PGA Tour events in the 2025 season, including two major championships.
He is the best and most consistent golfer on the planet, and it’s not even close.
He has a wonderful life both on and off the golf course, and he seemingly loves every minute of it.
However, could he be swayed to completely change his life if the Saudi-backed LIV Golf league came knocking with an offer worth $500 million?
Colt Knost was a guest on the Trey Wingo Podcast, and he discussed exactly that.
In response to being asked why certain players have tarnished their legacy by switching to LIV Golf, Knost suggested it was obviously for the money.
However, he also highlighted how Scheffler is the type of person who would not be swayed by the opportunity to increase his bank balance.

“Scottie Scheffler. What are you going to offer him? You could offer him $500 million, he’d be like, ‘no I’m good. I like being in America, I like being able to get home to my family, I like playing in the tournaments I want to and competing against the best players in the world.“
It’s a great point from Knost. Why would Scheffler be prepared to completely turn his life on its head for just more money?
And that’s the key here. It’s not life-changing money for these players, it’s just ‘more money’.
Colt Knost makes Jon Rahm claim despite Scottie Scheffler’s dominance
Rahm is obviously an elite player, but his failure to win on LIV in 2025 would have really irked him.
The Spaniard will be looking to bounce back in 2026 and he’ll be desperate to win another major championship as well.
Knost suggested that Rahm is actually better than any other player in the world on his day.
He said: “I honestly thought when he signed over there, I was like, ‘this guy is going to win most of the tournaments over there, he’s that good’.
“I’ve played with pretty much everybody in the modern game and he’s different. He’s so much better than everybody else, it’s a pleasure to watch him play golf.
“Going all year without winning over there was shocking to me.“
Rahm is an explosive talent but it’s a stretch to suggest that he’s a better player than Scheffler and McIlroy, considering how many times the American and the Northern Irishman have won over the past few years.
This is why the PGA Tour need to tempt Rahm back from LIV, so that we can see him playing against the likes of Scheffler every week.
