Scottie Scheffler will be disappointed with his performance at the US Open this week despite a top-10 finish.
Scheffler ended the tournament on four over par, only five shots behind champion J.J. Spaun, but never really threatened to win at any stage.
He was seemingly always on the periphery, and every time he had a chance to throw his hat into the ring, he could not quite do it.
That was truer than ever in his even-par final round, where he temporarily shared the clubhouse lead with Jon Rahm.
After the US Open concluded, Scheffler spoke about the difficulty in dealing with the dreadful weather at Oakmont Country Club.

Scottie Scheffler says what conditions were like in US Open final round
The US Open was temporarily suspended during the final round on Sunday due to torrential rain at Oakmont.
There was plenty of chatter about which players would be thankful for or unhappy with the stoppage.
Well, Scheffler seemed unfazed by the situation. He simply replied, “outdoor sport,” when asked how it affected him.
The world number one then commented on how the weather changed the golf course at Oakmont.
“The green speeds changed, and the fairways were obviously pretty wet,” he explained. “Yeah, I would say maybe after the rain, I would think it would play a touch easier just based on the greens being a little slower, being a little softer out there, balls are staying in the fairway.
“Then again, there’s a lot of moisture out there, and if the rain’s coming down, that’s a big challenge playing a golf course like this. If the rain holds off, maybe a few more birdies, but if it keeps going, it’s going to be pretty tough.”
The rain did indeed keep coming, and the leaders struggled to make birdies in the last few holes.
Scottie Scheffler’s US Open statistics show clear weakness
Scheffler’s inability to contend at the US Open came down to one aspect of his game: driving.
This will be particularly disappointing for the 28-year-old because it’s usually something he’s unbelievably good at.
| Strokes Gained | Score | Rank |
| Off The Tee | -0.09 | 48 |
| Approach | 1.59 | 10 |
| Around The Green | 0.74 | 15 |
| Putting | 0.58 | 27 |
| Total | 2.82 | T8 |
With the rough at Oakmont over five inches long, it was imperative all week to keep the ball in the fairway off the tee.
Scheffler struggled with his driver throughout the tournament, as highlighted by his 48th position ranking in strokes gained off the tee.
