Scottie Scheffler is set to give the PGA Tour a considerable boost this weekend as he returns to action at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.
The world number one hasn’t played since the Hero World Challenge at Albany despite being scheduled to compete at The Sentry and The Amex. Scheffler injured his hand on Christmas Day, but it appears the 28-year-old has made a full recovery ahead of this week’s Signature Event.
Scheffler has been swinging freely on the range and was supposedly six under through six holes on Tuesday while playing Cypress Point.
Having Scheffler back in the spotlight on the PGA Tour can only be a positive, and the two-time Masters winner was at his personable best during his pre-tournament press conference.
Scottie Scheffler’s course design ambitions

After being quizzed on his trip to Cypress Point and freak Christmas Day injury, Scheffler was also asked about whether he would ever consider designing a golf course.
“I think that golf course architecture is really interesting. I think where I’m at right now, I can — I have a good understanding of looking at a hole, and I can tell you what’s good and what’s bad about it. I think if I designed my own golf course right now, it would be quite boring, to be honest with you. I’m not super creative in that sense,” Scheffler said.
He added: “Being able to look at a hole and tell you what I like or what I don’t like is — I think it’s something that really interests me because I think at times what we’re doing to golf courses these days is not right and it’s not what’s best for the game personally.”
Does Scottie Scheffler have a favourite course?
Tiger Woods, Brooks Koepka, and Rory McIlroy all say St Andrews is their favourite golf course. Scheffler, however, admitted there’s not one venue he puts above the rest.
Scheffler was asked: “Do you have a favourite course on Tour?”
The world number one replied: “Not really. You know, I think there are certain aspects of courses that I like and then some aspects that I don’t like. People ask me that question all the time; I need to come up with a better answer.”
Scottie Scheffler’s PGA Tour return desperately needed
After a tough couple of weeks for the PGA Tour, Scheffler’s return is needed.
The season opener at The Sentry was entertaining, but viewing figures suffered as a result. Slow play marred The Amex, and 18 withdrawals impacted the Farmers Insurance Open.
Hopefully, with the Tour at Pebble Beach and Scheffler and McIlroy in action, golf fans will show a little more interest in events over the coming days.
