Scottie Scheffler was the man to beat before the Olympics started, and he certainly lived up to his reputation in Paris.

The American headed to France with six PGA Tour titles under his belt in 2024, with Smylie Kaufman most impressed by Scheffler’s Traveler Championship win.

Scheffler has now added the Olympic gold medal to his stunning honours list, finishing top with on 19 under.

He produced a fantastic comeback at Le Golf National, having started the final round four shots behind Jon Rahm and Xander Schauffele.

Schauffele messaged Scheffler after his Olympic gold, with the former finishing tied ninth on 12 under after struggling on day four.

World’s best golfers put on a show at Le Golf National

It was a thrilling final round and indeed a thrilling tournament in Paris, with the world’s top golfers really putting on a show.

Le Golf National provided an intriguing test for the likes of Scheffler, Rahm and Schauffele, who will have mixed feelings after their varying finishes.

Tommy Fleetwood meanwhile clinched the silver medal for Team GB in the French capital, with Hideki Matsuyama securing bronze for Japan.

Home favourite Victor Perez narrowly missed out on a podium finish for France, with Team Ireland’s Rory McIlroy finishing tied fifth with Rahm.

But gold medal winner Scheffler simply looks unstoppable at this moment in time, with plenty of success likely still to come in 2024.
