Sam Burns desperately wants Keegan Bradley to pick him for the United States Ryder Cup team on Wednesday.

Bradley already knows six players on the USA squad because they automatically qualified, but the other six have yet to be decided.

Those in contention to make the team include Justin Thomas, Collin Morikawa, and Burns, who received a captain’s pick two years ago in Rome.

Burns has now explained what he will do if he unfortunately misses out on Ryder Cup selection this week.

Sam Burns will support USA even if he misses out on Ryder Cup

While Burns is determined to play for the United States at Bethpage Black, he will still support the team if he does not make the cut.

“Of course, yeah. 100 percent trust in Keegan,” he said. “I know whatever decision he makes is going to be one that he thinks is best for the team.

“Ultimately, I’m Team USA. If I’m on the team, awesome. I would love nothing more. If I’m not, I’ll be rooting for them.”

Still, Burns admitted that the next few days until the US Ryder Cup team is announced will be difficult.

“It’s going to be a long 24 hours or 48 hours, whatever it is. But it’ll be nice to go home,” he continued.

“I’m definitely looking forward to being home and spending some time with Caroline and Bear, and just relaxing and resting. It’s been a long three weeks, and I’m really looking forward to that.”

Sam Burns says the Ryder Cup was his biggest goal in 2025

Burns has not won a PGA Tour event since 2023, and he has never won a major championship, but his biggest objective for this season was to play in the Ryder Cup.

“Yeah, it’s huge. I think definitely my No. 1 goal coming into this year,” Burns added. “Unfortunately, I didn’t put myself in a position to be an automatic qualifier.

“I think it takes a lot of stress off, certainly this week and last week, to be in that position. But you know what, I tried to focus on coming into the playoffs and trying to play some solid golf, and hopefully it’s enough.”

It’s impossible to know whether Burns will make Bradley’s team, but he has certainly given himself a decent chance with his recent performances.

It also helps that Burns is good friends with Scottie Scheffler because some of the selection process comes down to potential pairings.
