All of the Ryder Cup chatter right now is revolving around whether or not Keegan Bradley will act as a playing captain at Bethpage Black.
It seems like Bradley will retain his role as Ryder Cup captain at Bethpage Black whatever happens.
So the only question that remains is, will he pick himself if he doesn’t qualify for the team automatically?
It has been said that Bradley is more involved with the team than previous Ryder Cup captains have been.
While the 39-year-old still has a chance to qualify automatically for the team, it’s highly likely that he will have to rely on a pick from himself.
The majority of the best American players in the world will apparently tell Bradley that they want him on the Ryder Cup team.
So, if he does play at Bethpage, will he be able to carry out his captaincy duties to the best of his ability?
Ryder Cup team manager says if he thinks Keegan Bradley can play at Bethpage Black
John Wood was named as the Ryder Cup team manager before Bradley was even confirmed as the captain.

Wood will be involved in player selection, general logistics and is tasked with helping to create a positive team environment.
So does he think Bradley can perform both roles at Bethpage next month?
Wood spoke to SIRIUSXM PGA TOUR Radio and responded when asked that exact question.
He said: “I’ve got to keep my cards pretty close to my vest here. I will say this, I know that he’s so organised and so ready for this.
“He‘s got contingency plans for everything, you know, arranged with his vice-captains and myself. So no matter what happens, ultimately he’s got a plan for it, there’s not going to be any surprises at the end.“
Keegan Bradley’s 2025 stats on the PGA Tour
Bradley has performed incredibly well on the whole this season, although his form over the past two months has been slightly concerning.
Here are his stats from 2025 so far:
| Stats | Bradley’s rank |
| Strokes gained off the tee | 29th |
| Strokes gained approach | 48th |
| Strokes gained around the green | 8th |
| Strokes gained putting | 105th |
| Strokes gained total | 14th |
If Bradley is to qualify automatically for the US Ryder Cup team, he will most likely need a win at Caves Valley this week or East Lake next week, or a couple of top-three finishes at the very least.
And if he fails to do that, the spotlight will be shining brightly on the man from Vermont, as the American fans await his six captain’s picks just after the Tour Championship.
