Rory McIlroy is on cloud nine at the moment after winning The Masters but he could find himself back in the headlines for his latest views on any LIV Golf and PGA Tour merger.
McIlroy has been one of the voices of the PGA Tour for some time when it comes to LIV and after initially calling it out, he has since softened his stance on welcoming players back from the PIF-backed tour.
Of course, McIlroy stepping back and not being as involved in any discussions has aided his golf game and last month he won The Masters, finally completing the career grand slam.
Now, after lapping up the adulation of that Masters win, McIlroy has been speaking about the future of golf again and this time, has an interesting take on proceedings.

Rory McIlroy shares fresh view on PGA Tour and LIV Golf merging
McIlroy has been doing the rounds on American television this week and he was on CNBC News earlier today discussing his business ventures and golf in general.
Naturally, he was asked about the future of golf but instead of pushing for a balance, McIlroy actually suggested the PGA Tour might be just fine right now.
“We talked about this the other day, I believe that a deal to bring everyone back together would ultimately be beneficial for the world of golf,” McIlroy said.
“I think that the longer you have all the best players playing together four times a year, long-term it’s detrimental to the game as a whole. But at the same time, I look at the momentum of the PGA Tour this year and TV ratings are up again and their best players are winning and making storylines. I don’t think the PGA Tour needs to do a deal right now necessarily.
“But for the long-term benefit of the game, it probably does need to come together.”
What Jon Rahm wants to happen with the PGA and LIV Golf
While Rory McIlroy has his view here and he does support the bringing of the game of golf back together, he doesn’t seem quite as fussed anymore.
Over time, the conversation has become a bit tiresome and right now, there are those who have had enough.
LIV superstar Jon Rahm, though, still believes a deal can be done. Speaking last weekend, Rahm suggested a deal would be great for everyone.
“It’s a tricky situation. Obviously we’re in a situation where it’s a bit unknown how it could affect the world of golf long-term and the environment we have right now, and I do believe, yeah, if there was some kind of agreement reached, it would be better for everybody. There’s enough love for the game worldwide for all of us to have a place to play, and I think there’s a solution out there,” Rahm admitted.
“Now, none of us sitting up here are in charge and we don’t know what that looks like because we’re not lawyers and there’s a lot of things going on, but I do believe there’s an opportunity, and I’ve said this many times, to create something special.
“I think we’re in a spot where there’s more attention into golf than in the past from other parts of the world and different people, and I think with the right attitude and the right minds put together, something really cool and something really special could happen that would be beneficial for everybody.”
Clearly, there is so much work to be done on this but for now, it very much seems McIlroy and the PGA Tour could be content with where they are.
