Jon Rahm remains the poster boy for LIV Golf but when it comes to a merger between LIV and the PGA Tour, Rahm believes there’s work to be done.

Rahm helped his Legion XIII team to another win at LIV Mexico this weekend and he finished inside the top five again on the individual side of things.

For the Spaniard, the move to LIV has been successful but he knows deep down that for his legacy to really matter, he needs to win more majors or big events on the PGA Tour.

As it stands, Rahm will feature in the next run of majors but away from that, any return to PGA Tour events seems a long way off.

And speaking after LIV Mexico, Rahm has had his say on where he believes things are in relation to any merger.

Jon Rahm gives his thoughts on PGA Tour and LIV Golf merger

Speaking after leading his Legion XIII team to yet another win on LIV Golf, Rahm was asked about the need for a merger of sorts and whether or not it’s needed.

And according to Rahm, it’s all about getting the right people in the room.

“It’s a tricky situation. Obviously we’re in a situation where it’s a bit unknown how it could affect the world of golf long-term and the environment we have right now, and I do believe, yeah, if there was some kind of agreement reached, it would be better for everybody. There’s enough love for the game worldwide for all of us to have a place to play, and I think there’s a solution out there,” Rahm admitted.

“Now, none of us sitting up here are in charge and we don’t know what that looks like because we’re not lawyers and there’s a lot of things going on, but I do believe there’s an opportunity, and I’ve said this many times, to create something special.

“I think we’re in a spot where there’s more attention into golf than in the past from other parts of the world and different people, and I think with the right attitude and the right minds put together, something really cool and something really special could happen that would be beneficial for everybody.”

What’s the latest on a potential merger between LIV Golf and the PGA Tour?

Depending who you listen to and what you read will determine where things are right now, in all honesty.

We all know that President Donald Trump has been involved at some level but with wider issues in the world to deal with, Trump’s influence seems to have waned recently.

PGA Tour chief exec Andy Weitz gave an updated recently but even that suggested little to no progress had been made.

However, there are also suggestions that the SSG are expecting a partnership with the PIF at some point, meaning there has to be some sort of progress happening along the line.

Right now, though, LIV and the PGA entities are very much existing separately and doing so in their own ways.

Quite whether we’ll ever get to a point of harmony, remains one of golf’s big questions.
