Rory McIlroy has shared one change he wants to happen to Quail Hollow, which could really help him during the final two days of the Wells Fargo Championship.
The Northern Irishman will head out with leader Xander Schauffele on Saturday after carding a three-under 68 in his second round.
Schauffele is currently on eleven under, four shots clear of McIlroy and Jason Day who share second. Collin Morikawa is another notable name in the top ten, sitting six shots back on five under.
Rory McIlroy wants change to Quail Hollow greens over the weekend

The greens at Quail Hollow have been a talking point this week, with many players amazed at just how much bounce their ball was getting during approach shots.
After his practice round on Wednesday, Max Homa spoke of his amazement about how hard the greens were. It was a similar story for Jason Day during his first round on Thursday; the Australian was puzzled at how Brian Harman’s wedge shot on the 10th skipped 15 paces after landing.
Speaking after his second round, McIlroy has claimed he’s looking forward to some dryer weather and the greens firming up even more.
He said: “I hope it does. The way these things were playing on Tuesday. We got all that rain on Tuesday and Wednesday. I hope they do firm up because I honestly think with how I am feeling about my game and how comfortable I am, that will suit me well.”
Rory McIlroy shaping up well ahead of the PGA Championship next week
McIlroy’s game appears to be shaping up well ahead of the PGA Championship, which will take place at Valhalla next week.
The Louisville venue is the scene of the 34-year-old’s last major victory, where he narrowly fended off Phil Mickelson on an almost pitch-black 18th hole.
After a slow start to 2024, McIlroy will no doubt be delighted with how his game is shaping up and Quail Hollow feels like the ideal preparation for the year’s second major.
The longer hitters who are competing in this week’s signature event stand every chance of giving Scottie Scheffler a run for his money should be present at Valhalla.
