When it comes to the moments golf fans would have been fascinated to see depicted in the latest season of Full Swing, Scottie Scheffler being arrested at the PGA Championship will surely have been right up there.
In one of the most surreal scenes professional golf has ever seen, Scottie Scheffler was driven away in the back of a police car after attempting to drive into Valhalla ahead of the second round of the PGA Championship.
Police had been in attendance following a tragic incident earlier in the day. And when Scheffler tried to drive into the golf course, he ended up being arrested in a scarcely-believable chain of events.
Scheffler would see all charges dropped later down the line. But what was truly remarkable is that the world number one not only still played on that Friday – after starting his warm up in a jail cell – but he went on to produce a stunning round of 66 which brought him inside the top 10 and just three shots off the lead.
Rory McIlroy’s reaction to Scottie Scheffler being arrested at the PGA Championship
Episode three of the latest season of Full Swing on Netflix showed some of the reaction to the incident, with Rory McIlroy amongst those obviously left stunned.
“I was talking to Teddy. ‘Is he okay? How is he doing?’ At the end of the day, he is a great golfer but at the same time he is my friend, I just wanted him to be safe,” Tom Kim said.

Ted Scott said: “It was nuts. He handles himself in stressful situations so well. I have seen it, walked with him. The guy was in jail stretching, who does that?
“I was just glad Scottie was okay and able to play the tournament. It didn’t cross my mind that it would do anything for me, apart from maybe change my tee time,” McIlroy added.
“It was a surreal thing that happened but thankfully in the game all you can do is control your own golf ball and that’s it.”
The greatest round of Scottie Scheffler’s career
Scheffler’s challenge would fall away over the weekend, with a 73 on Saturday surely coming about because of the emotional toll the previous day’s events had taken on him. He also did not have Scott on the bag for that one round.
Nevertheless, many will remember just how incredible the 28-year-old’s performance had been on that Friday. Most players would have surely withdrawn from the tournament having felt that they were not in the right headspace to compete.
But Scheffler played one of his greatest ever rounds. Certainly, no questions can now be asked of his mental game ever again after what he did once he finally got into Valhalla on that Friday.
