Rory McIlroy is going into the final day of the DP World Tour Championship with a share of the lead as he produced some stunning moments of class in round three.
McIlroy is level on 12-under with Antoine Rozner and Rasmus Hojgaard going into tomorrow’s final round.
For McIlroy, the Race to Dubai title is wrapped up but he’ll be desperate to close out in style and win the season-ending event in Dubai.
And after McIlroy was told most of any issues he had were down to a lack of concentration, the 35-year-old showed in round three just how good he can.
Indeed, over on the 16th hole, McIlroy produced a moment of magic that few are capable of as he left the commentators watching on stunned.

Rory McIlroy produces impossible shot on the 16th at the DP World Tour Championship
Speaking on Sky Sports as McIlroy chipped to within inches for a tap in par after going over the back of the green to the right, Andrew Coltart lauded the effort from McIlroy and suggested the Northern Irishman had pulled off the near impossible.
“Oh that is ridiculously good. Ridiculously good. I didn’t think it was possible to play a shot like that,” Coltart remarked.
McIlroy scrambling like Tiger Woods in his prime
For all the ability McIlroy has and how he can very much do anything with a golf ball, sometimes, you have to scramble your way to success.
This week, McIlroy is doing just that. As he works on his new swing, he’s making the odd mistake and leaving himself plenty of work to get up and down.
But crucially, McIlroy is managing to keep in contention by producing moments like this and ensuring he’s always in the mix to win.
Lee Westwood spoke previously of Tiger Woods’ ability to scramble and right now, that’s what McIlroy is doing.
It bodes well for him going into tomorrow’s final round and while Rozner and Hojgaard are capable players, McIlroy will fancy his chances.
