Rory McIlroy might be cutting down his schedule in 2025 but he has committed to playing an event we don’t actually see him too often in.
McIlroy confirmed in November that he might axe a few events from the PGA Tour schedule in 2025 as he looked to stay fresh enough to be in shape to win the majors.
The Northern Irishman enjoyed a good 2024 overall but his year was marred by his US Open near miss.

However, while McIlroy intends to shave some of the events in America from his busy schedule, he has tonight committed to playing in at least one event he doesn’t usually bother with.

McIlroy has played in most events throughout his career and often tries to make it for the big ones.
However, the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is one which he normally avoids, even though it does actually give FedEx Cup points for the pros.
McIlroy has played twice, this year and in 2018. But now, he’s going to extend that run as he’s taken to his Instagram account to confirm he’ll be playing Pebble Beach again in 2025.

It’s safe to say that the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am has not been a happy hunting ground for Rory McIlroy in his two attempts.
He was cut in 2018, before finishing in a tie for 66th and 15 shots back of winner Wyndham Clark in 2024.
McIlroy did fair better at Pebble at the US Open in 2019, finishing in a tie for 9th as Gary Woodland won, while back in 2010, with the winning score of Graeme McDowell just par, McIlroy could only muster a ten over for the week.
The conditions play a big part at Pebble Beach and McIlroy has admitted conditions affected him in 2024.
How he copes in 2025, then, will be an interesting watch.
