Rory McIlroy will be looking to win his first green jacket at The Masters this week.

It’s incredible to think that this will be Rory McIlroy‘s 11th attempt at winning the Grand Slam – an exclusive club with just five members – Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, Ben Hogan, Gary Player and Gene Sarazen.

The Northern Irishman last won a major way back in 2014 – the PGA Championship at Valhalla.

Rory McIlroy said he’s never been in better form heading into The Masters as he is now. So that 11-year wait could be about to end.

McIlroy’s putting has been so much better this season, and he’s inside the top 13 in all of those key statistical categories.

It certainly wouldn’t be a huge shock if he won The Masters this week.

The 35-year-old is on the verge of achieving greatness, and a win at Augusta National would see him achieve something that has not been done for nearly a century!

Will Rory get his hands on the highly-coveted green jacket on Sunday?

There’s every chance of that happening, given his form this season and positive mentality heading into the week.

And if McIlroy is successful in his hunt to win the Masters, he will achieve history.

A win at Augusta would see Rory become only the sixth golfer to win the career Grand Slam.

However, only one other man out of the five members of that exclusive club completed the Grand Slam at Augusta.

Way back in 1935, Gene Sarazen won The Masters with a six under par total of 282.

And 90 years later, McIlroy could do exactly the same thing.

Who is Rory McIlroy playing with during the first two days at Augusta

McIlroy has found himself on the late-early side of the draw.

He will play alongside Ludvig Aberg and Akshay Bhatia during the first two days at Augusta National.

That seems like a really nice group for Rory.

If he remans patient throughout the week, there is no reason why the Grand Slam club won’t have a new member come Sunday night.

Rory McIlroy’s game is built to win The Masters, and now it’s up to him to finally deliver.
