Rory McIlroy has won The Wells Fargo Championship and has now revealed just how confident he is ahead of next week’s PGA Championship.
McIlroy was simply scintillating in his final round as he reeled in Xander Schauffele before pulling clear to win by two shots, albeit that was down to a very lax final hole.
The win at Quail Hollow was the fourth Wells Fargo title of McIlroy’s career and he will now go into Valhalla next week confident.
McIlroy has now won twice on tour in the last few weeks after he won The Zurich with Shane Lowry.
And speaking to the media on Sky Sports after his final round today, McIlroy appeared in confident mood ahead of the PGA as he insisted the ‘stars seem to be aligning’.

Catching McIlroy just as he came off the last green, the Northern Irishman was asked how confident he is ahead of Valhalla next week.
And in good news for Rory fans, it looks like he’s in top form.
“You know I really got some confidence from New Orleans, winning with Shane. And then coming into this week you know, at a golf course I’m comfortable at, my golf swing feels a lot more comfortable than it has done so going to a venue next week where I’ve won, it feels like the stars are aligning a little bit,” McIlroy said.
“But I’ve got a lot of golf to play and lot of great players to beat but yeah, going into next week I feel really good about myself.”
With Scottie Scheffler potentially not at Valhalla depending on his wife and giving birth to their first child, the door might be wide open for McIlroy.
Talks have suggested Scheffler will be at the PGA as it stands.
But even if that is the case, on this form, Scheffler is going to need his best to overcome McIlroy.
