Rick Shiels is one of the biggest names in all of golf at the moment and his move to team up with LIV Golf caused shockwaves among the YouTube golf scene earlier this year.
Shiels is golf’s biggest YouTuber – in terms of an individual anyway – and has produced some of the best content around in the last decade.
However, in a major turn from his normal USP, Shiels signed a deal with LIV Golf this year which has, in turn, seen him get access to some of the biggest names in the professional game.
But while huge names like Bryson DeChambeau and Jon Rahm are the players people really want to see, Shiels has said it’s actually a smaller name from LIV who was one of the biggest joys to work with.
Rick Shiels says who really surprised him when filming LIV Golf content
Shiels has been lucky enough to film with a lot of top LIV stars so far and he’s already had videos with the likes of Joaquin Niemann and Jon Rahm.
However, discussing the personalities of the players and trying to get that in the public eye a bit more, Shiels named one of LIV’s lesser known names as someone who was brilliant to work with.
“The amount of players I’ve filmed with over the last few months and I’ll be honest, I didn’t know a lot about. They are all fantastic. Players like Abraham Ancer, and I didn’t know a lot about him but being on the range before, he’s just an amazing human, super talented, really funny” Shiels said.
“Dean Burmester. Funny enough, talking to the LIV guys before we started, I was like I want to film with Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka, Bryson DeChambeau, of course I do.
“But the guys were like ‘you need to get Dean Burmester on the channel’ and I was like really, not sure about that.
“But we filmed with him in Riyadh, he was unbelievable. Funny, charismatic, watches the videos. He was like when is the video coming out. So, they care. But I think that needs to come out more.”

Shiels has been fortunate enough to film content with some huge names who have already won major championships in their career.
The likes of Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson and Jon Rahm are just some of the names over on LIV Golf who have enjoyed that success.
However, thanks to his deal with LIV, Shiels has got up close and personal with Joaquin Niemann.
And according to Shiels, Niemann is going to easily win majors one day.
“I’ll go with us. I’ve got the hottest property in golf at the moment on my team. But it’s fantastic; 13 years ago when I started making YouTube videos, to think that we’d be teeing off today with five major champions and Joaco Niemann, as well, a future major champion, it’s unbelievable,” Shiels said of Niemann before teaming up with him in the LIV Duels event.
Niemann couldn’t muster anything too good at The Masters but after Phil Mickelson called Niemann the best in the world, the Chilean seems well set to be successful soon enough.
