Rick Shiels is set to take part in LIV Golf’s ‘The Duels’ this weekend as content creators and pros team up to battle it out with one another.
Rick Shiels is widely considered to be the biggest YouTube golf star in the business, and he isn’t a bad player either.
Last year, Rick Shiels shot a 78 (six-over par) at the famed TPC Sawgrass.
His channel is the most watched golf channel on YouTube, and he has nearly three million subscribers.
Now he’s set to compete in an event that could garner huge interest from the younger, up and coming golf audience.
LIV Golf have created ‘The Duels’ event as an answer to the PGA Tour‘s Content creator Classic.

The eagerly anticipated event will feature six LIV Golf pros teaming with six content creators for a nine-hole scramble.
The event will be streamed live on Grant Horvat‘s YouTube page at 8pm eastern time on April 5th.
Shiels will be confident of winning the showdown, given the sheer quality of his partner…
Joaquin Niemann tipped for greatness by Rick Shiels
Chilean golf star Joaquin Niemann has been in sensational form this season, with two wins to his name on LIV in the last two months.
It’s easy to forget that he’s still only 26, and amazingly is LIV Golf’s sixth youngest player!
Rick Shiels recently said Joaquin Niemann is in the top three golfers in the world right now.
And now the YouTube star has made another bold claim about the Chilean, when he was asked who he thinks will win The Duels showdown in Miami:

“I’ll go with us. I’ve got the hottest property in golf at the moment on my team. But it’s fantastic; 13 years ago when I started making YouTube videos, to think that we’d be teeing off today with five major champions and Joaco Niemann, as well, a future major champion, it’s unbelievable.“
Rick Shiels makes ‘The Duels’ prediction
There will be plenty of talented golfers on display on Saturday at Doral, some more so than others.
And Shiels has opened up on what he thinks could happen this weekend:
“We have Wesley Bryan, George Bryan, Luke Kwon at the back, unbelievable players. Grant and Phil, their chemistry together is incredible. We’ve seen that on videos together. These two here at the end, obviously, Fat Perez and Cam, have just been — the chemistry of these two all week has been electrifying.
“I think it’s going to be difficult, as Bubba said. It’s really windy out there. Maybe I was thinking a bit too optimistically about the scoring level, but I think every team genuinely has got a chance, and I think it’s going to be really close until the end, and I’m probably expecting a playoff, as well.“
Pros taking on content creators might not be for the traditionalists, but it is very much a road that modern golf in the 21st century is heading down.
Rick Shiels is the biggest star there is in the golfing YouTube world, and he will attract a huge crowd out in Miami, perhaps more so than some of the LIV stars will.
