Rick Shiels’ LIV Golf move is now confirmed – and the YouTube star has revealed the two golfers who will be joining him in his first video.

Shiels will be present at every single LIV Golf event, producing the same content the golfing world knows and loves. Break 75 and Shiels’ ten-shot challenge will remain.

New content strands, including a five-man scramble and two-vs-two matches involving LIV Golf players, will also be released.

It’s certainly an exciting opportunity for Shiels, and few can begrudge his decision to sign for LIV.

After Shiels teased the news on his YouTube channel, the Englishman released a video on Friday and explained all the details – and two heavyweight players are up first.

“Just to give you a heads up, the next video you are going to see on this channel is me vs Jon Rahm and Brooks Koepka,” Shiels revealed.

“Talk about kicking things off with a bang! Having Jon Rahm and Brooks Koepka on the first video, I mean major wins galore! Honestly, filming with Jon Rahm and Brooks Koepka was just outstanding. Both their games are phenomenal.

“The way Jon started the video was just outrageous, and Brooks was so good with his time. We really genuinely sat down in a buggy and we were just talking forever. It was a proper pinch-me moment like this is unreal. And the way he was talking and sharing things was so insightful, and you guys get to see that.”

A life-changing moment for Rick Shiels

Shiels was one of the first content creators to hit YouTube, and this LIV Golf gig feels like a reward for years of hard work and dedication. There’s no way the 38-year-old saw this coming back when he started producing coaching videos that were watched by just hundreds of people.

Now, Shiels will travel the world on a monthly basis and play some of the world’s best courses alongside the game’s best golfers. He is, quite frankly, going to live the dream.

Of course, there will be those who criticise his decision to move to LIV. The Saudi-backed venture will always face sceptics due to its impact on the professional game in recent years. Others will highlight the money potentially heading Shiels’ way.

Yet, for someone who is not a professional golfer, turning down this kind of life-changing opportunity was never on the cards.
