There was no Olympic gold medal for Tommy Fleetwood in Paris but his silver medal achievement has still been widely lauded.

Fleetwood fell just short of world number one Scottie Scheffler in the end as he failed to chip in on 18 to take things to a playoff.

Fleetwood shot five under par in the final round but Scheffler’s sensational round of nine-under was just too good for the rest of the field.

Regardless, winning silver is still a momentous achievement for the Southport native and in a week where the town has had a terrible time, Fleetwood has offered a chink of light.

Of course, there’s plenty over in the UK who love Fleetwood and consistently egg him on.

And after posting over on Instagram, two of the world’s most popular golf YouTube stars, Rick Shiels and Peter Finch, were quick to applaud the Englishman.

Fleetwood posted on Instagram to send his thanks to everyone and revel in the silver medal.

And down in the comments, Finch and Shiels were on hand to show Fleetwood some love.

As watchers of both channels will know well, Shiels and Finch both know Fleetwood through the golf scene in the northwest of England.

Tommy Fleetwood is ready to win big

A lot of people feel Tommy Fleetwood is the nearly man in golf and having not won a major or won on the PGA Tour just yet, it’s a fair enough assumption.

However, Fleetwood’s time is coming.

He is getting close in big tournaments and the fact he took silver in what was a massively impressive field over in Paris shows how good he is.

Hopefully, he can round out 2024 by finally landing that first PGA Tour win.

However, if it’s not to be this year, then 2025 is surely the year for Tommy and he’ll once again be a key factor in the Ryder Cup, regardless of his wins.
