Bryson DeChambeau is known as one of the hardest-working elite players, and YouTube golf star Rick Shiels couldn’t believe what the big-hitting American was doing late on Monday evening ahead of the Open Championship.

The 2024 US Open winner has been at Royal Troon since the start of the week as he looks to fine-tune his game for golf’s most unique test.

DeChambeau has admitted he’s looking to lower his ball fight in order to properly compete during the final major of what has been an exhilarating season.

After DeChambeau claimed he derailed during the final round on LIV Golf Andalucia, the 30-year-old will be looking to replicate his remarkable major championship form on Scotland’s west coast.

YouTube personality Shiels has filmed with DeChambeau previously, and the Englishman has now revealed what he saw the big-hitting American do during his late-night practice on Monday evening.

Speaking on the Rick Shiels Golf Show, the 38-year-old was amazed to see him smashing balls ‘until his hands were bleeding’.

“You have got Bryson, who has been playing incredible,” said Shiels. “He was the last person on the driving range yesterday, still smashing balls until his hands were bleeding!”

Bryson DeChambeau could complete perfect 2024 season at The Open

After finishing in the top ten at The Masters, being runner-up at the PGA Championship, and winning the US Open, DeChambeau has the chance to etch his name into major championship history this week.

If he can compete once more, the 30-year-old’s 2024 performance in the most significant events will be remembered for a very long time.

Of course, there are questions over how his game will hold up in blustery and firm links conditions. But, given how meticulous DeChambeau is, no stone will be left unturned.

If he can manage his ball flight correctly, he will stand every chance of competing on the biggest stage once more.
