Rory McIlroy finally got the job done at The Masters on Sunday.
And by conquering Augusta National, he became only the sixth player of all-time to complete the Grand Slam.
If Rory McIlroy wasn’t a legend already before The Masters began, he certainly is now.
The shot that Rory McIlroy hit on the 15th hole at Augusta on his way to winning Te Masters was one that will go down in history.

Golf fans will still be talking about it in 50 year’s time, and probably for even longer than that.
Rex Hoggard says Rory McIlroy could do ‘unthinkable’ after Masters win
The next challenge now for McIlroy will be to keep stacking up the major wins.
It’s more than possible that he could end up with 10 majors or more by the time his career is done.
But could he do the unthinkable and actually win the ‘single season Grand Slam’?
Golf writer Rex Hoggard was speaking about Rory’s epic win at Augusta National on Tuesday, and he gave his opinion on what the future holds for the 35-year-old.
Hoggard responded when asked by the NBC Golf Today crew if Rory can emulate his epic 2014 season this year:

“I like the conversation that he has struggled for an entire decade to reach the career Grand Slam but somehow in 2025 he’s going to pull off the unthinkable and win the single season Gran Slam. I will say yes, I don’t know how that’s not the answer. When you look at the next PGA Championship is at Quail Hollow, where he’s won multiple times, and he has the course record. We all know that his game is tailor made for US Open venues and we expect a true US Open venue this year. I guess the outlier for me will be the Open Championship this year because it returns to Royal Portrush. We know what it would mean to him to win the Open Championship in his country in Northern Ireland, I think that comes with a level of pressure. But if we’re having the conversation in 10 year’s time I’m going to be stunned if we’re still talking about him having just that many majors, that he hasn’t added to his portfolio since then, because I can imagine the only thing that Sunday did for him was free him up.”
Rory McIlroy will eclipse 2014 season in 2025
In 2014, McIlroy won two majors – The Open Championship and The PGA Championship. He also won the Bridgestone Invitational at Firestone Country Club and the BMW PGA Championship on the DP World Tour.
This season, the Northern Irishman has already won The Players, a signature event at Pebble Beach and obviously now The Masters.
If he wins one more major this season, 2025 will definitely stand alone as Rory McIlroy’s best ever year in the game.
Whether or not he’s able to do that remains to be seen, but it will be one heck of a ride watching it all unfold.
