Jim Furyk will be a part of Keegan Bradley’s Ryder Cup leadership team for the 2025 showdown at Bethpage Black.
Bradley named Furyk as one of his vice-captains for next September’s event last week, and the 54-year-old will join Webb Simpson, Brandt Snedeker and Kevin Kisner on Long Island.
Furyk was the USA’s captain back in 2018, and his appointment as vice-captain continues a trend of including old heads in behind-the-scenes roles.
Furyk is a veteran of USA team events, and Golf Channel pundit Rex Hoggard believes Bradley‘s decision to rely on his experience is the right one.
Keegan Bradley makes Jim Furyk call ahead of Ryder Cup

Speaking in the latest Golf Channel podcast, Hoggard expressed his admiration for Furyk and insisted his presence will only benefit the USA in New York.
“I love Jim and that Jim is in that team room. I will point out the caveat that clearly the PGA Tour of America have gone in a different direction when it chose Keegan Bradley as this year’s captain. He was not in line to be a captain; he did not fall into the gold old boys club that made the last few captains who were largely unsuccessful,” Hoggard said.
“The PGA of America probably felt they needed to colour outside the lines a little bit, but it doesn’t seem to me that Keegan is colouring outside the lines when it comes to his captain. I’m not saying that is necessarily a bad thing because there’s something to be said for institutional knowledge. I’ve had long conversations with Davis Love about them getting better every two years because they are bringing knowledge from what they know from the last Ryder Cup.
“There are things you probably learn along the way that can help up going into Bethpage this year. So I love the idea of creating continuity but it is a little curious in my mind.”
Jim Furyk’s controversial Presidents Cup calls
Furyk was the mastermind behind the USA’s Presidents Cup victory in September. The American was not immune from criticism, however.
Before the event in Montreal, Hoggard criticised Furyk’s decision to select Max Homa for the US team. Homa endured a tough end to the 2024 season and was not in top form.

Furyk including Bradley within his 12-man roster also drew criticism. But, after the 38-year-old holed the winning putt, his decision-making was justified.
Bradley will undoubtedly make his own decisions at Bethpage, but having two or three older heads around him can only be positive as the US looks to win back the Ryder Cup in September.
