Numerous big name players left the PGA Tour to LIV Golf back in 2022.
Bryson DeChambeau, Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson and Brooks Koepka all jumped ship from the PGA Tour around three years ago, while the likes of Cameron Smith and Jon Rahm followed them to LIV Golf not too long after.
DeChambeau and Rahm are the only two golfers who have managed to compete consistently in the majors since joining LIV, the American especially.
Golf fans are desperate to see those two names compete more regularly against the likes of Scottie Scheffler and Rory McIlroy.
However, it was recently claimed that a merger between the PGA Tour and LIV Golf will never get done.

That said, President Donald Trump is said to be very keen to facilitate a deal between the two rival factions.
Whether that ever happens or not remains to be seen.
However, one thing that is for certain is the fact that LIV will continue to try to tempt the most talented players to join their tour.
Jose Luis Ballester is imminently set to join LIV Golf
21-year-old Arizona State University graduate Jose Luis Ballester is a huge talent.
He is probably most well known for spending a penny, so to speak, in Rae’s Creek at The Masters in April.
Ballester is ranked as the sixth best amateur in the world right now. He will be turning pro soon, but has just turned down a spot on the Korn Ferry Tour.
And the reason for that is that he is apparently imminently set to join the LIV Golf league.
Ballester joining LIV rather than earning his crust on the Korn Ferry Tour is a sign of the golfing landscape shifting right in front of our eyes.
The Spaniard has everything needed to become a real star of the game.
But now he could be set to pass up the chance to create a real legacy in the game for a quick buck.

What Jon Rahm said about Jose Luis Ballester
Rahm is clearly a huge fan of his fellow countryman.
Like Ballester, Rahm is a former Sun Devil, and he has played plenty of practice rounds alongside him.
Back at The Masters, Rahm told the media just how talented Ballester is.
He said, “I have played a bit with Jose Luis, he’s really close with David Puig, who I spend a lot of time with. All three of us were ASU players. It’s hard to describe his game with anything but saying he’s extremely powerful. You’ve got a player who’s got a 190mph ball speed when he rolls out of bed in the morning, and has two Olympians for parents. So he’s got all the athletic genes he needs to succeed in the game and a lot of talent.

“At the end of the day, ‘can you mentally handle it, and can you take advantage of the opportunity when you receive it?’. He’s got plenty of game, plenty of talent and plenty of distance to be in this game for a very long time. And I can’t stress this enough, he’s a wonderful man. Extremely kind and very empathetic which is really interesting to see for a 20-year-old in college. Definitely a fun guy to be around, a fun guy to play with.”
Ballester is obviously a sensational young talent, and it’s a real shame that we won’t get to see him compete regularly on the PGA Tour in the future due to his imminent move to LIV Golf, and perhaps not the majors either.
