Phil Mickelson has been around long enough now to know a good golfer when he sees one and he’s given his reaction to the latest teen sensation, Miles Russell.

Russell is making waves at junior level and is regarded as one of the biggest talents the sport has seen for some time.

Indeed, over the weekend, Russell made it a remarkable four wins in a row on the junior tour by winning the Sage Valley Junior Invitational.

Of course, when it comes to young up and coming golfers, Charlie Woods often gets a lot of the attention.

But while Woods might carve his own career, Russell already looks close to being good enough for the pro ranks and Phil Mickelson has now passed comment on the teenager.

Phil Mickelson responds to Miles Russell winning again

With Mickelson being one of the elder statesmen in golf these days, he’s naturally going to be excited about the prospect of a young up and comer breaking into the game.

And taking time out of his schedule to pass comment, Mickelson has taken to social media to have his say on Russell’s future.

This is not the first time Mickelson has had his attention drawn towards Russell either.

Back in 2024, Mickelson lauded the teenager for making the cut on the Korn Ferry Tour, taking to X again to praise the youngster.

How Miles Russell did on his PGA Tour debut

Unbelievably, Miles Russell has already played on the PGA Tour, having been given an invite to the Rocket Mortgage Classic in the summer of 2024.

Just 15, Russell managed to just fall short of making the cut after shooting 144 for his two rounds but he still impressed and crucially, Russell admitted he felt comfortable as well.

“I was a little nervous,” he explained about his first drive.. “Probably like a seven. But that was probably the best drive of the day! I should have been nervous all day. But it was a good day. I settled in nicely.”

Russell is among a number of young and up and comers looking to make an impression in the next few years before going through the college system and into the Korn Ferry Tour.
