Bryson DeChambeau is never a man far away from the big headlines in golf and he’s already got people talking thanks to his clubs.

DeChambeau is using custom made 3D printed irons once again at the US Open this week after initially gaining approval prior to the Masters in April.

Of course, golf clubs and technology are always a topic of conversation in the golfing world and DeChambeau himself has even spoken recently on the future of club production.

“Once it gets to a price point that makes sense, then maybe. But it is somewhat expensive, and I don’t think it’s for mass consumption yet,” DeChambeau said.

“But it will get there. I am certainly looking forward to improvements in technology because, man, it would be so cool to have a 3D printer at your house, to print your own iron, and to do whatever.”

“You could put it together and go and hit it that afternoon,” he added.

“That’s really cool compared to having a six-month process of prototyping it out, measuring it up and a couple of iterations – maybe one of them is right, and one of them is wrong. You could just 3D print within an hour, stick a shaft on it and go and hit it.”

And answering some questions on that very subject over on his X account, PGA player Michael Kim has had his say on the matter.

Michael Kim weighs in on Bryson Dechambeau club controversy

The popular Kim was taking questions over on X (formerly Twitter), and answered a whole range of different posers from fans.

And when one fan asked about the clubs Bryson is now using, Kim appeared to brush it off as not a big a deal as some are making out.

Quite whether the use of such clubs will take off with the masses in the professional golf world, remains to be seen.

But Dechambeau does make a good point around the regular golfer taking this route and if they are affordable, it could be something a lot of players look into.

Clubs in golf have always been so expensive and a lot of the time, they’re not even tailored to the individual.

This, then, is a way to break down that barrier and improve everyone’s game.
