Patrick Reed is well-known within golfing circles for being somewhat of an awkward customer to deal with.
Reed has been a controversial figure in the game ever since he burst onto the PGA Tour back in 2014 and immediately declared that he was a ‘top five player in the world’.
After those comments, the 34-year-old was perceived to be cocky and arrogant, rather than confident, and his reputation has never really recovered.
Whether the common perception of Reed is a fair one is not entirely clear.
Reed actually suggested that he was treated unfairly before he joined LIV Golf.

The American claimed that he was painted as the villain from day one, with his success on the golf course and kind acts off it always going unnoticed.
He said, “They painted me as a villain, which I don’t mind being the guy who goes in and tries to wreck everyone’s day, that’s fine. But I felt like whenever I did something successful, or did the things that really meant a lot to me, they kind of got brushed underneath the table. They wanted to keep me in that one role.“
Unfortunately for Reed, it seems like he still hasn’t managed to shake his reputation of being difficult to deal with.
Michael Kim claims Patrick Reed would have lost his mind at the Canadian Open
PGA Tour player Michael Kim is renowned for his punchy takes on X.
The 2018 John Deere Classic winner was very active on social media throughout the final round in Canada on Sunday evening.
Firstly, he took to X to praise Ryan Fox for his pace of play during the Canadian Open final round.

Then he took aim at the PGA Tour officials and Reed, after the pin location on the 18th at Osprey Valley was moved to a new position after the first two play-off holes.
Kim said, “Patrick Reed and his team would lose their minds if they went from back left to front right in the middle of the playoff.“
Reed has a reputation for being fairly outspoken when it comes to delivering his verdicts on golf course setups that he doesn’t particularly like.
However, while Kim usually produces good content on X, that post on Sunday night was in poor taste and was somewhat of a cheap shot at the LIV golfer.
Can Reed win another major?
Reed actually had a chance to win The Masters in April, only to finish up in third place, two shots adrift of eventual winner Rory McIlroy.
The 34-year-old definitely seems to have regressed as a player since joining LIV.
However, on his day, he’s still more than good enough to compete with the best players in the world.
Messages like the one above from Kim will most likely serve only to motivate Reed even more.
The 2018 Masters champion has been there and done it on the world’s biggest stage whilst Kim hasn’t, and the PGA Tour player would do well to remember that.
