With the PGA Tour season winding down, there will be some interest in seeing which players are linked with LIV Golf ahead of 2026.
LIV Golf faces a tough task this winter. Their lack of superstar signings ahead of the 2025 season spoke to the idea that almost every big name has been approached at some point and already decided whether they are at all interested in making the jump.
Interestingly, Scott O’Neil said LIV were targeting PGA Tour players earlier this season.
And reports have suggested that LIV are speaking with two recent winners on the PGA Tour about a move. While they are reportedly not marquee names, Brian Rolapp will not want to lose anyone who has lifted a trophy over the last year or so.
Thankfully for Rolapp, it seems that one champion this year has all but confirmed that they will be staying with the PGA Tour.
PGA Tour winner appears to confirm he will be staying and not joining LIV Golf
One player who has certainly managed to catch the eye this season is Aldrich Potgieter, with the South African winning the Rocket Classic in a playoff with Chris Kirk and Max Greyserman.
There were rumours that Potgieter may be a target for LIV, with the league also heading to his home country for the first time in 2026. Obviously, it would not have been a surprise – had he signed – if he ended up on Stinger GC.
But it would appear that Potgieter has confirmed his plans to stay with the PGA Tour with an Instagram post after withdrawing from the Bank of Utah Championship this week.
He wrote: “What a rookie season it’s been on the PGA Tour. Grateful to get my first win, make the FedEx Cup playoffs, and take a lot of positives from the year. Excited for a bit of an off-season coming up with the Nedbank and Dunhill in South Africa to finish things off. Lots to also work on before January rolls around for the start of the 2026 PGA Tour season. Big thanks to my team, family, friends and all the support I get from the fans.”
A big boost for the PGA Tour as Aldrich Potgieter looks to confirm his plans for 2026
It is dangerous to say never in golf, particularly in the last few years. Potgieter would not be the first player to change their mind and join LIV in recent years. But it would certainly appear that he has no plans to make the move in the coming months.
And it could be a real boost for the PGA Tour to hold onto Potgieter.

He is certainly erratic and he is going to have to improve his approach play significantly. But he is the longest player off the tee on the PGA Tour in 2025, with Rory McIlroy in second place.
| Strokes gained category | Aldrich Potgieter’s PGA Tour rank (2025) |
| Off the tee | 5th |
| Tee to green | 85th |
| Approach | 130th |
| Around the green | 161st |
| Putting | 82nd |
| Total | 84th |
With that, there is always going to be interest in what Potgieter is going to do in tournaments, particularly on the longest courses the PGA Tour visits.
And given that he only turned 21 last month, there looks to be a limitless amount of potential there.
LIV will almost certainly come calling again in the future. And if he continues to develop, they will surely return with a much more lucrative offer.
But for now, it is definitely another positive sign for the PGA Tour to have one of the most explosive talents in the game decide to stay put.
