PGA Tour star admits ‘he would be shocked’ if Bryson DeChambeau rumor is actually true

Bryson DeChambeau left the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf way back in 2022.

Since he jumped ship to LIV Golf, the long-hitting DeChambeau has since established himself as one of the biggest stars in the professional game, if not the biggest.

However, after Brooks Koepka left LIV Golf, there has been talk that DeChambeau could do the same.

Of course, DeChambeau’s current contract with LIV only runs until the end of the 2026 season.

And the two-time US Open champion recently admitted that he has still not committed to terms on a new contract.

So what does the future really hold for the enigmatic LIV golfer?

PGA Tour player Michael Kim is never afraid of airing his views on social media.

His insightful posts about PGA Tour life behind the scenes have seen him grow his following on X to just over 220k.

He now holds a certain kind of cult status among PGA Tour fans, as a result of some of his incredibly descriptive posts.

Now Kim has delivered his opinion on the latest news concerning Bryson DeChambeau.

It has been claimed that DeChambeau could actually pursue a full-time YouTube career, rather than competing professionally.

The suggestion is that DeChambeau would spend all of his time creating youTube content, while playing only in the four major championships.

However, Kim is not buying that for a minute. He took to his X account to explain exactly why the LIV golfer will never completely walk away from playing competitively.

He said: “I don’t know Bryson well but he is a golf competitive psycho (in a good way).

“YouTube has been great for him but I have a very hard time believing that just YouTube will fulfill that competitiveness. They both need each other and I would be shocked if they don’t get a deal done (LIV contract).“

Kim is exactly right with his comments there.

While YouTube is clearly an avenue that DeChambeau would like to explore even more, would that be enough to satisfy his competitive needs?

It’s fair to say that the answer to that question is almost definitely, no.

The reason why Kim is so certain that DeChambeau would never swap playing competitive golf for creating content on YouTube permanently is very simple.

The American is someone who thrives on competing and if that was taken away from him, he may find it very difficult indeed.

Kim once again took to his X account to explain the thinking behind his comments.

He said: “There’s a massive difference between the rush of being in contention to win a tournament and pulling it off vs trying to beat a YouTube golfer or trying to break 50.

“They’re not the same. You also can’t expect to be at your best showing up four times a year only playing the majors.“

While DeChambeau will undoubtedly continue to produce content for YouTube, the likelihood is that he will continue to play competitive professional golf for many years still to come.

However, whether we will see him stay with LIV Golf or make a return to the PGA Tour remains to be seen.
