With LIV Golf announcing on Tuesday night that Brooks Koepka’s contract has been terminated by mutual consent, all eyes will be on what lies ahead for the five-time major champion.

There has been speculation for a little while about whether Koepka would be playing on LIV in 2026. His contract was set to end at the end of next season. However, it did appear that he was not completely happy.

Is this the end of LIV Golf?

There is still plenty that remains up in the air. But one thing that is for certain is that Koepka will not be staying with LIV Golf. Talor Gooch has been announced as the new captain of Smash GC.

PGA Tour player comments on the prospect of Brooks Koepka returning

The PGA Tour has commented on Koepka’s departure. Interestingly, despite the 35-year-old technically being suspended from the tour he left three years ago until 2027, the door was not shut in their statement.

And it seems that some are already prepared to see the rules change to allow for Koepka to return.

Taking to social media following the announcement, Harry Higgs has suggested that he would choose to let Koepka back.

Why Harry Higgs wanting Brooks Koepka back on the PGA Tour says a lot more than some may initially realise

While he may not be the biggest star by any means, Higgs’ verdict on Koepka feels significant.

Higgs failed to keep his status as a full member on the PGA Tour for 2026. So he will be one of the players facing an anxious wait to see what starts he will be able to make next year.

Obviously, only the top 100 players this past season have automatically kept their cards. Higgs ended the regular season 112th in the standings, while he dropped down to 132nd in the fall. He also did not manage to earn his card through Q-School.

So Koepka returning would potentially have a detrimental impact on someone like Higgs.

The fact, therefore, that he is ready to see him return is quite telling.
