The PGA of America will have already turned its focus to the 2027 Ryder Cup after the USA failed to beat Europe this year under the captaincy of Keegan Bradley.

USA vice captain Jim Furyk was proud of Bradley after his role at Bethpage Black, where the USA lost 15-13 to Team Europe.

But Bradley has come under fire after the home side’s defeat, with the PGA of America now needing to make a big decision for Adare Manor in 2027.

The Ryder Cup heads to Ireland next time out, where Luke Donald could captain Team Europe for a third successive time.

He guided Europe to Ryder Cup success in Rome and New York, with Jon Rahm eager for Donald to retain his captaincy in Ireland.

PGA of America told why they should appoint Keegan Bradley as 2027 Ryder Cup captain

Bradley’s potential to do the same has now been discussed by Mel Reid and Kira Dixon on the latest episode of Quiet Please!

Dixon said: “I don’t think he should have been playing captain because that’s insane and just from my perspective, from the amount of media these guys do.

“They are up until 8pm at night just talking to people like me, I can’t imagine them having to recover from that!

“I don’t think it’s possible to do both. I think if he wanted to play he should have said no to the job. But if Luke Donald is captain again, I think Keegan should be captain again.

“Because bringing in a fresh captain to go up against somebody who is captaining their third Ryder Cup team… the only wrench would be if Tiger [Woods] would do it.

“I think the timing will be better too, because he won’t be as focused necessarily on his own game. He was doing all of this at the same time as playing a full PGA Tour schedule.”

And Reid commented: “I feel like captains should do two rounds. I’m a bit old school like that. I think you should do a home and away.

“I think Keegan was a good captain to be honest. I think he got a bit of stick, but I like Keegan. I think he is exactly what the Ryder Cup is about. He is passionate and fiery, he is a team guy. I think he deserves another go and another shot at it.”

Who could captain the USA Ryder Cup team at Adare Manor in 2027?

At this early stage, it seems that Bradley will not be reappointed as the USA captain, with his reputation having taken a huge hit after Bethpage Black.

He was under real pressure to deliver the Ryder Cup on home soil, with his tenure starting in nightmare fashion as Europe stormed to an early lead.

The USA did produce a fantastic comeback on Sunday, but it was too little too late for Bradley and his players.

But the captain’s shortcomings must also be put in context with the phenomenal work of Donald, who deserves huge praise for helping Europe win another Ryder Cup.

He got very little wrong at Bethpage Black, and would undoubtedly be warmly welcomed by all interested parties if he were to continue his captaincy at Adare Manor.

Brandt Snedeker has been tipped to be the Ryder Cup captain for the USA next time out, while the names of Woods and Phil Mickelson have also entered the debate.
