Peter Finch has made his thoughts on Aaron Rai clear after the latter won the Wyndham Championship on Sunday.

Matt Fitzpatrick congratulated Rai after his Wyndham win, with the event having been heavily disrupted by rain and bad light.

Sedgefield Country Club hosted the event, which represented the last regular season PGA Tour event before the FedExCup Playoffs.

Keegan Bradley played at Wyndham to move up the FedExCup standings for the Tour Championship, such was the importance of the event.

The FedExCup Playoffs begin next week with the FedEx St. Jude Championship, with 70 players making the cut.

That will then be decreased to fields of 50 and 30 for the BMW Championship and Tour Championship respectively.

Rai is 53rd in the list, but has been projected to move to 25th, with the Englishman now receiving a message from Peter Finch after his Wyndham Championship success.

“Awesome stuff!!” Finch wrote on X. “Aaron is quite literally one of the nicest people in golf. A win for the nice guys.”

Aaron Rai claims first PGA Tour win at chaotic Wyndham Championship

The Wyndham Championship really was chaotic from start to finish, which isn’t what the field wanted given their FedExCup Playoffs ambitions.

Several players needed a strong display at Sedgefield in order to climb the rankings, but the weather had other plans.

Rai was, however, seemingly unaffected, with the 29-year-old standing firm to secure his first ever PGA Tour title on his 89th start.

He carded two opening rounds of 65, before finishing on 68 and 64 as he played 36 holes on the final day due to the weather disruptions.

Matt Kuchar meanwhile, who led the way after two rounds, opted to finish his 18th hole on Monday after refusing to finish his final round due to bad light.
