A one-time PGA Tour winner has confirmed his withdrawal from this week’s John Deere Classic at TPC Deere Run.

A weakened field is present in Illinois, with several big names still taking time off ahead of the Scottish Open and Open Championship, which gets underway at Royal Troon on July 18.

Scottie Scheffler is likely out of action until the fourth major of the year, and Rory McIlroy is set to return at The Renaissance Club next week.

Jordan Spieth is the highest-profile name set to feature this week after Patrick Cantlay’s withdrawal on Tuesday.

And now, another PGA Tour event winner has confirmed he’s out of this week’s event.

Adam Hadwin, who won the Valspar Championship in 2017, has confirmed that the Scottish Open will be his next event before the Open takes centre stage in two weeks’ time.

“Didn’t realize I had made the big times! Next up is Scottish and then the open,” he wrote in response to X account, Hadwin Legion.

Adam Hadwin’s 2024 PGA Tour record

After impressing for much of the 2024 season, Hadwin is in a position where he can take time off ahead of the FedEx Cup playoffs.

The Canadian currently ranks 32nd in the FedEx Cup standings and will qualify for the St. Jude Championship in just over six weeks.

Hadwin’s most eye-catching performance of 2024 came at The Memorial Tournament, where they placed solo third on four under.

However, after missing the cut at the US Open and finishing well out of contention at the Travelers, improvement is required heading into the final major of the year at Royal Troon.
