Nelly Korda fired a second round 68 at the Kroger Queen City Championship on Friday, leaving her four shots adrift of the lead heading into the weekend.

Amazingly, Korda is still without a win in 2025 after her sensational run of seven wins in 16 LPGA Tour events last season.

It sums up the game of golf that Korda has actually been better statistically on the LPGA Tour this season than she was in 2024.

The 27-year-old has made the cut in every single event she has played this season and has six top-10 finishes to her name.

So she has still been very solid, but only a win would make her season a successful one.

Numerous different injuries have adversely affected Korda this season, and that has somewhat flown under the radar.

Now that she’s fully healthy it would surprise nobody if she finished the year in style with a win or two.

Nelly Korda sets LPGA Tour record after second round at the Kroger Championship

Korda recently lost her world number one spot to Jeeno Thitikul, and she will be desperate to win that back as soon as possible.

The 27-year-old from Bradenton, Florida, has a real chance of doing just that if she can finish her season strongly, and she’s in a good position to get her first win of the season this weekend.

Korda would openly admit that she has made too many bogeys this week – seven in total.

However, she has been a real birdie machine, making eight in round one and the same amount in round two.

Carding back-to-back rounds with eight birdies was a career first for Korda.

Now the challenge for her will be to make eight or more birdies once again on Saturday at TPC River’s Bend, while keeping the bogeys to a minimum.

If she can shoot a couple of rounds in the mid-60s this weekend, she’ll have a great chance of catching and overtaking the current leader of the Kroger Queen City Championship, Chanettee Wannasaen.

Nelly Korda’s stats after two rounds at the Kroger Queen City Championship

Korda’s numbers are looking very solid after two rounds in Hamilton Township, Ohio, especially her putting stats.

Here are her overall stats after the first two days at the Kroger Queen City Championship:

StatsKorda’s stats thru rounds 1+2
Driving accuracy78.5%
Driving distance296 yards
Putts per round25.5
Greens in regulation72.2%

With stats like that, it’s actually surprising that the 27-year-old has made seven bogeys during her first two rounds.

Korda has to find a way to make the same amount of birdies or more, but fewer bogeys during her final two rounds of the Kroger Queen City Championship.

And if the world number two does that, she may well find herself back in the winner’s circle come Sunday evening.
