Nelly Korda will be looking to win her third major title at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship this week.

However, the world number one’s week has seemingly got off to a really inauspicious start.

Korda is still waiting for her first win of the 2025 season, although she has made the cut in all nine events she’s played so far.

The 27-year-old will be determined to right the wrongs of her previous two appearances at the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship, after missing back-to-back cuts in the event.

Korda’s poor putting has held her back in the majors this season, and she has been working incredibly hard on addressing that issue.

The 15-time LPGA Tour winner really is due a victory, but that may well now be hard to come by in Frisco this week.

That’s because Korda appears to have a big injury concern heading into the tournament.

Korda has endured problems with injury and her general health over the past couple of years.

And she has another one to deal with this week ahead of the Women’s PGA Championship.

Korda was asked by reporters about the tape she had on her neck during her practice round at Fields Ranch East in Frisco, Texas, on Tuesday.

She responded, No. I hit a shot out of the rough yesterday, and my neck went into a full spasm. It’s getting better, but yeah, it was not very good yesterday.

The women’s world number one then replied when asked if her neck problem is impacting her golf swing.

She said, A little, yeah. Obviously with the injury that I had last year, every single time something kind of flares up in my neck now, I think I feel it a little bit more than what I used to. But I have a great physio who takes care of me. Trying to work through it, but I’ll be ready by Thursday.

And finally, Korda was asked where and when she picked up the neck problem.

To which she responded, On one of the holes on the front nine in the rough, yeah. Just golf (laughter), yeah.

Let’s hope that the injury doesn’t hold her back too much this week, because it’s about time she won another major, and it won’t be possible for her to do that without being healthy.

Nelly Korda’s 2025 LPGA Tour stats

By her standards, 2025 has been a fairly poor year so far.

Judging by her stats, it’s obvious what she needs to work on.

StatsRank
Strokes gained off the tee1
Strokes gained approach12
Strokes gained tee to green2
Strokes gained around the green82
Strokes gained putting30
Strokes gained total2

Her pitching and chipping simply haven’t been at the required levels this season.

If she tidies up that part of her game, she will undoubtedly win again very soon.

First and foremost though, Korda must ensure that she is in tip-top condition physically for the start of the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship on Thursday.
