Min Woo Lee boomed a 336-yard iron during the second day of the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship at Yas Links Golf Club.
The 26-year-old is one of the more high-profile names competing at this week’s DP World Tour event in the UAE.
The Aussie has been busy during the fall, having played in the Presidents Cup and the ZOZO Championship in Japan. Lee also competed at the Macau Open on the Asian Tour.
Lee is known for his big hitting, and he showed off his skills on the 442-yard 3rd hole at Yas Links. The Aussie’s iron ran along the finely cut fairway, leaving him just over 100 yards into the green.
Bubba Watson beats Min Woo Lee with 2018 effort

Many would assume Lee’s 336-yard tee shot would’ve been one of the longest iron shots in golfing history.
Bubba Watson has gone one better, however.
During the WGC-Dell Technologies Match Play in 2018, the two-time Masters winner carried his tee shot on the ninth almost 300 yards before the ball fed down and eventually racked up a yardage of 366 yards.
Watson had just 86 yards left into the 490-yard par-four. The venue in Austin was around 150 meters above sea level, which caused the ball to travel further.
New USGA rule can’t come quick enough
336-yard iron shots are further evidence that the upcoming USGA legislation on golf balls is justified.
By 2028, all balls that travel further than 320 yards when hit at 125mph will be deemed illegal. As a result, many products currently on the market will be surplus to requirements.
The change is being implemented in order to protect courses moving forward. Given the distance professionals carry the ball and technological advances, we could soon reach a stage where courses become far too easy for the world’s best, a scenario nobody wants.
