Michael Kim got his first win on the DP World Tour by landing the French Open at the weekend but he was still left in awe of LIV Golf’s Brooks Koepka.

Kim saw off Koepka and some other big names to win out in Paris and ensure he now has his name in the winner’s circle on both the PGA and DP World tours.

For Kim, the experience of playing and winning in France was exhilarating and going into 2026, he’ll be keen to build on his recent success and win even more.

Of course, to win out in France, Kim had to see off five-time major winner Brooks Koepka.

Koepka had done enough to get into the mix going into Sunday’s final session and looked to be on a charge until a few unforced errors cost him.

Nevertheless, after witnessing Koepka up close and personal, Kim has admitted there is just something different about him.

Michael Kim praises Brooks Koepka after seeing him at the French Open

Brooks Koepka is one of the best golfers of the last 15 years and his five majors and multiple wins on both the PGA and LIV tours show that.

As of now, he’s probably not quite at the level he once was but that doesn’t matter, according to Kim.

Indeed, taking to social media to post his thoughts on Koepka, Kim was full of praise for his fellow American.

“Played with Brooks on Saturday. The first thing I was reminded of again is that the top guys just hit it differently. The contact is flush and the sound is different. You feel it with guys like Scottie, Rory, the quality is different than other PGA Tour pros.

“He’s still not prime Brooks but he played really solid. It was my first time playing with him in a tournament and it was a fun round. He can look stand-offish at times but he was cool to play with. Plays fast, friendly and really enjoyed my round with him,” Kim noted.

Could Brooks Koepka return to the PGA Tour?

Of all the players who made the move to LIV Golf, Brooks Koepka is the one big name that keeps getting a mention in terms of a return to the PGA.

Koepka has spoken openly and honestly at times about LIV and at times, he’s come across as suggesting things aren’t quite as good as they should be.

LIV’s new CEO Scott O’Neil has suggested Koepka is happy on LIV but deep down, he will be aware that certain players may have one eye on a return.

With Koepka playing in events like the French Open and the Irish a few weeks back, it shows he’s motivated again by four-day golf tournaments.

With his contract set to expire on LIV in 2026, it will be interesting to see if he does indeed pursue a return to the PGA and in doing so, just how he goes about it.
