Michael Kim reveals what on-course volunteer said to him before holing out for eagle at the Arnold Palmer Invitational

Michael Kim has continued his fine start to the 2025 PGA Tour season and is firmly in contention to win the Arnold Palmer Invitational.

After keeping within contention in rounds two and three, Kim produced a remarkable round of five under to go right into the mix and sit just five back of the leader, Collin Morikawa.

With tough winds and firm greens expected in the final round at Bay Hill, Kim knows full well that a big effort could see him win out and cap a fine start to the 2025.

Of course, to get the win, Kim is going to need to produce some moments of magic and after holing out from the bunker for eagle on 12 yesterday, he’ll want more of the same in round four.

And speaking of that bunker shot on 12, Kim has admitted that he ended up giving his ball to the on-course volunteer after a conversation prior to chipping in.

Sometimes in golf, things just seem written in the stars and it seems to be the case with Michael Kim’s shot from the bunker on 12 here.

In what is a brilliant story really, Kim has revealed that he actually had a word with a volunteer prior to the shot and in the end, gave the volunteer his ball after the call helped him hole it.

Michael Kim’s 2025 season so far

In terms of surprise packages this season, Michael Kim is right up there.

After only just scrambling to keep his card in 2024, Kim has produced some of the form of his life to put himself in contention in nearly every tournament in 2025 since missing the cut at the Farmers.

That form means a win is surely not far away and if he did it at Bay Hill, it would be the biggest of his career to date.

Having won just one PGA Tour event in his entire career, pulling it out of the bag at Bay Hill would be some achievement for Kim.
