2024 might have been the year of Scottie Scheffler on the PGA Tour but his 2025 is not going to get off to a good start after he picked up an injury to his hand over the festive period.
Scheffler will not play until at least the AT&T at Pebble Beach after sustaining an injury over Christmas which will require at least a few weeks recovery.
It’s not just Scheffler though who has picked up an unfortunate injury. Norwegian star Viktor Hovland is also out with a toe injury sustained from a bed frame.

It means that the duo – both top ten players on the OWGR – are missing The Sentry at the start of January.
However, reacting in comedic fashion to the injuries to both players, PGA Tour player Michael Kim has suggested the duo take their time with any return to golf.

Scottie Scheffler and Viktor Hovland encouraged to take more time off after injuries
Kim has become one of the most popular players on social media in terms of engaging with fans via his X profile.
And after hearing of the injuries to Scheffler and Hovland, Kim has now suggested the pair take some more time off, and specifically a few events.
Who could win The Sentry with no Scottie Scheffler?
While Kim’s comments here are very much tongue-in-cheek and have a humorous undertone, there is no doubt that no Hovland or Scheffler opens the door for others.
That means that the likes of Justin Thomas and Collin Morikawa are now favourites to win The Sentry but others will also fancy their chances.
Players like Michael Kim are not regular winners on the TOUR but if they do get that one big win, then it effectively sets them up for a few more years at least.
With Scheffler and Hovland missing, this could be a golden opportunity for a player in the same boat as Kim to make a mark.
