Michael Kim is a winner on the DP World Tour after he won the French Open in dramatic style to seal a second career win.
Kim saw off a strong field behind him that included Brooks Koepka to win in France and make sure he’s now a winner on both the DP World and PGA Tours.
Kim made two birdies in the last three holes while Elvis Smylie could only muster up one across the same stretch to allow Kim to finish just one stroke clear on -16.
For the American, it was a huge win and relief and as expected, golf fans around the world were delighted for Kim.
However, despite landing the win, Kim has admitted to being disappointed after learning of the change the French Open are making in 2026.

Michael Kim unhappy as French Open to move venue for 2026
This year’s event saw the tournament hosted at the beautiful Golf of Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche resort and it provided a tough challenge in the main.
However, the French Open will move back to Le Golf National in 2026 and when pressed on that decision, Kim admitted he wasn’t too happy.
“Disappointing,” Kim responded when asked about his opinion on the move back to Le Golf National.
“You know, I know how difficult Le Golf National is. Everyone talks about it. This course wasn’t as tough, I imagine. But kind of this week, had some rain, some wind. You know, we even had to play the ball up today.
“So it was a really good challenge. I feel like I played as well as I did this week as any other week that I’ve played this year, and I’ve had some really, really nice weeks this year.”
Of course, one of the issues Kim could encounter is if he’s actually available to defend his title in 2026.
And when asked about his intentions, Kim admitted it was hard to say.
“I can’t commit to next year because I don’t know how good of a year I’ll have next year. But I’ll make my best effort to come back. Because I really enjoyed Paris, not just because I played well this week, but just staying in Versailles this week. And I’ve been to Paris a couple times just as a vacation but I thoroughly enjoyed it way more this time around,” Kim added.
“I’ll be making every effort that I can to come back.”
Michael Kim tops a fine 2025 on the PGA Tour with a win in France
This feels like it’s been a real breakout season for Michael Kim and his record on the PGA Tour would back that up.
Despite not winning again this season on the PGA, he still played good golf and was part of the FedEx Cup at the end of the season.
Kim has made 21 from 26 cuts, had four top tens – including one at the BMW Championship – and looks to be in the form of his life.
He finished runner up at the WM Open earlier in the year and looks to have really built himself into being a top player on the TOUR.
Going into 2026, this win in France will do Kim the world of good and it feels just a matter of time before he wins.
