Michael Kim’s fine PGA Tour form shows no sign of slowing down. The American is firmly in contention heading into the final round of the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Kim‘s runner-up finish at the WM Phoenix Open was the start of a hot streak for the ever-popular 31-year-old. Kim placed T13 at the Genesis Invitational and Mexico Open. The American then finished tied for sixth at last week’s Cognizant Classic.
After teaming up with Joe Mayo, Kim’s short game has massively improved. He is now ranked 20th for strokes gained around the greens.
What’s more, Kim’s long game appears dialled at present, and Tiger Woods‘ former coach Sean Foley is the man advising the one-time Tour winner.
Michael Kim discusses Sean Foley improvement

Kim was asked about Foley during his post-round press conference on Saturday, and the 31-year-old detailed some of the key swing changes he’s working on.
“I mean, it’s like four years of work. But just anything to give myself time to release it as hard as I want,” Kim said.
“Stuff we have done, letting my – trying to get a really big turn to my right side, and messing around with the ball position a little bit here and there has helped a lot.”
Arnold Palmer Invitational: Michael Kim five shots back of Collin Morikawa
Kim will need to produce something pretty special if he’s to win the fourth Signature Event of the season. Collin Morikawa currently leads the way on ten under and is five shots clear of Kim. Morikawa is eyeing his first win since 2023.
Considering the world number five’s form, one of the chasing pack will have to produce something pretty special at Bay Hill. Russell Henley is one shot back, and Jason Day is three shots back at seven under.
Arnie’s place has proven particularly challenging this week. Firm and fast greens have tested the world’s best players, and conditions are set to get even more difficult during the final round. If the wind gets up, level par could be an excellent score for any player near the top of the leaderboard.
World number one Scottie Scheffler is two under and will have to play his absolute best golf to challenge. Rory McIlroy, who is three under, will have to produce a low round if he’s to land win number two of 2025.
