Michael Greller has caddied for Jordan Spieth since 2011 in one of the PGA Tour’s most tight-knit player-caddie relationships.
Greller first met Spieth at the US Amateur before eventually carrying the bag for the American during all three of his major championship victories.
2024 hasn’t been overly kind to Spieth, who dropped out of the world’s top 50 last week.
Spieth has struggled with a wrist injury over the past year and underwent surgery upon the conclusion of his PGA Tour season.
The three-time major winner will target a positive return in 2025, and Greller has admitted that caddying on tour is completely different from when he started out 13 years ago.

Greller, speaking on the latest edition of Golf.Com’s Scoop, has revealed that caddying standards have significantly increased over the past ten years.
“You go to these iconic courses, St. Andrews, Pinehurst, Valhalla. It’s fun. You’re with other caddies,” Greller explained.
“This week there were three or four guys, there is a lot of really hard working caddies, there’s too much at stake now for the players.
“You have to step up your caddie game too. This is my 12th year of caddying, and I have noticed that the quality of caddying has greatly increased. If you’re not great at your job, you’re not going to last.”
Michael Greller changed careers after 2011 US Amateur
Greller previously worked as a math teacher and caddying as a hobby after enjoying it during his youth.
However, after meeting Spieth in 2011, Greller returned to teaching for a year before Spieth’s father, Shawn, called seeking his services.
Greller would return to work for 19-year-old Spieth, who embarked on his first entire season on the PGA Tour in 2012. The highlight of Spieth’s career came at the 2015 Masters, where he became the second-youngster winner of the green jacket.
16 professional wins later, the Greller-Spieth partnership lives on. With Spieth still only 31, further majors and PGA Tour success isn’t out of the question for the dynamic duo.
