Any player who has won five times on the PGA Tour should be classed as one of golf’s elite talents. For most, tasting victory at a professional event never becomes a reality.

Tommy Fleetwood, one of the best players in the world, has never won an event on US soil. That’s how difficult it is to get tournament wins over the line unless your name is Scottie Scheffler or Tiger Woods.

Even some of the highest-ranked players in the world have only tasted victory a handful of times. Wyndham Clark has three PGA Tour wins, Ludvig Aberg has one and Viktor Hovland has six.

One under-the-radar player who actually has more victories than Clark and Aberg combined is Canadian Nick Taylor.

Nick Taylor’s PGA Tour record

Taylor – currently ranked 29th in the world – sealed his fifth PGA Tour win at last week’s Sony Open.

The 36-year-old chipped in on the 72nd hole before beating Nicolas Echavarria in a playoff. However, the event in Hawaii wasn’t Taylor’s most significant victory.

Back in 2024, Taylor won the WM Phoenix Open. The year before, Taylor beat Tommy Fleetwood in a dramatic playoff at the Canadian Open to win his third title.

What’s more, the Canadian also tasted victory at Pebble Beach in 2020 (AT&T Pro-Am), something most golfers dream of. His first win came way back in 2014 at the Sanderson Farms Championship.

There’s no doubt Taylor’s record goes under the radar.

Nick Taylor’s awful major championship record

Despite boasting an impressive record on the PGA Tour, Taylor’s performances in the majors have been underwhelming.

Taylor’s highest finish in a major came during the 2020 Masters Tournament, where he placed T29. After that, Taylor’s T36 finish at the 2009 US Open (low amateur) is another highlight.

Amazingly, Taylor hasn’t made a cut at a major championship since the 2020 Masters. After missing the weekend at the 2020 PGA Championship, he didn’t play another major until the 2022 US Open at the Country Club, where he also finished on the wrong side of the cut line.

He didn’t play in the 2023 Masters, but since then, he has played in all seven majors and missed the cut each time. It’s an intriguing record for a golfer who clearly has the talent to mix it with the world’s best players.
