Every player on the PGA Tour will have a favourite event but for newcomers like Matt McCarty, simply being on the TOUR is a big deal.

McCarty shot to fame and secured entry into some big events in 2025 by winning the Black Desert Championship a few weeks back.

McCarty will be allowed to play in the PGA Championship and the Masters after picking up a win, while he’ll also be given the chance to play in some other featured events.

For McCarty, the chance to play in some of golf’s biggest tournaments – especially in a Ryder Cup year – is huge.

And while the Masters and PGA are two massive tournaments, McCarty has actually picked out two other events as standouts for 2025.

Matt McCarty reveals the two PGA Tour events he’s looking forward to most

Speaking in an interview with GOLF’s Subpar on YouTube, the Arizona native admitted he was looking forward to the 2025 season.

And in particular, he was looking at two places with a keen eye.

“Phoenix and going to the Waste. Growing up there and going to that event, I know a ton of people there on any given day but the fact I am going to be playing and have that support out there in that atmosphere will be fun,” McCarty said.

“It’s pretty crazy but it will be fun to make birdies and see how it’s going.

“Also getting in the Sentry and being able to go to Maui for New Year’s will be a really cool experience as well.”

McCarty another breakout star on the PGA Tour

The talent pool on the PGA Tour is now so deep and while we saw Scottie Scheffler dominate in 2024, it does feel like it’s getting harder and harder to win.

Players like McCarty getting a win just further strengthens the pack and we saw with the likes of Nick Dunlap winning last season that golf has a bright future.

In golfing terms, McCarty is still very young at 26 and if he can secure another win, then he’ll effectively be on the scene for quite some time.

Right now, the PGA Tour might be battling constantly with LIV over what the future holds but one thing’s for sure, and that’s that the conveyor belt of talent is continuing on.
