Ripper GC star Mark Leishman has revealed what he’s absolutely loving about LIV Golf at the moment.

Six-time PGA Tour winner Leishman has enjoyed an excellent couple of weeks on the breakaway tour.

Last week’s event at The Grange in Adelaide saw Ripper GC pick up a memorable team victory on home soil before the Aussie quartet landed another win at LIV’s Singapore event at Sentosa Gold Club.

Leishman’s Sentosa outing was particularly impressive. The 40-year-old, who turned his back on the PGA Tour in August 2022, finished tied for second with Cameron Smith, two shots back from winner Brooks Koepka.

Five-time major winner Koepka looks in ominous form ahead of the PGA Championship at Valhalla, which starts on May 16.

Speaking after his final round 66 on Sunday, Leishman explained how he’s loving the team aspect of LIV, something that was never the case on the PGA Tour.

He told LIV’s official website: “I can’t speak for the other boys, but I’m genuinely excited every time I go to an airport now to come to a tournament.

“That’s not a fib. I actually am. Obviously, it’s very serious golf, and there’s a lot on the line, and you’re playing for each other, but it almost feels a little bit like we’re going on a boys’ trip every time we go to a golf tournament, which I love.

“Obviously, we’ve got to pull the reins in every now and again if we get a bit excited, but it’s awesome to be travelling the world with these lads.”

What’s up next on LIV Golf’s schedule?

For 11 LIV Golf stars, attention will now turn to the PGA Championship in Louisville. Initially, nine players were set to compete in the year’s second major, but late invites for Talor Gooch and David Puig have seen the quota increase.

Greg Norman, who has recently held talks with another PGA Tour star, will be desperate for one of his stars to lift the Wanamaker Trophy in Louisville; Koepka and Jon Rahm are probably the most likely LIV stars to compete at the moment.

For the rest of the breakaway tour, there’s now an extended break after two quickfire competitions.

The Golf Club of Houston will host the next event on June 7 before the league heads to The Grove in Nashville on July 21.
