With the golfing calendar largely winding down over the last few weeks, Bryson DeChambeau has, once again, inserted himself into the void and captured the imagination of the fans with a challenge he has set himself at home.

Of course, almost every golf fan on social media will have watched at least one of his videos in which Bryson DeChambeau attempts to make a hole in one over his house. He gave himself one additional shot each day after starting with just one shot on his first attempt.

The two-time US Open champion set a mat down on one side, with the green set behind what can only be described as the part of the house which appears to have the most glass.

Obviously, making a hole in one is challenging enough. But the pin was also in the front right corner of the green, so he has had to be even more precise just to make sure he hit the putting surface.

Fans gripped as Bryson DeChambeau attempts to hit a hole in one over his own house

There have been numerous close calls along the way. Remarkably, it does appear that not a single part of his house was actually hit in the filming of the challenge.

And DeChambeau has certainly used some naughty titles; clearly hinting on a few days that that had been the one in which he found the bottom of the cup.

But on day 16, with shot 14, DeChambeau managed to hole it. Understandably, the shot sparked wild celebrations, with DeChambeau immediately sprinting around the house to check for himself.

Some disappointment as DeChambeau completes the challenge

Given how many times DeChambeau has come close, you would be forgiven for overlooking just what an incredible achievement it is – particularly for those of us who have never had the pleasure of actually making a hole in one. But when you consider that he has taken just 134 shots to make it, it is a remarkable effort – especially as he could not even see the pin.

Many were understandably delighted to see DeChambeau make the shot. But there was also a realisation that that means that the series is not going to continue any longer. DeChambeau really has managed to scoop up the golfing world and leave them eating out of the palm of his hand.
